Frequently Asked Questions
For inquiries, check out our FAQs or send us an email at info@edenvistastow.com. We can’t wait to hear from you.
What kind of training do staff members receive?
Our team members receive comprehensive training designed to provide compassionate, person-centered care. Depending on their role, training may include resident safety, emergency preparedness, infection prevention, medication assistance, dementia care, communication techniques, fall prevention, and assistance with activities of daily living. Ongoing education helps our team stay current with best practices while providing the quality care residents deserve.
What services are included in assisted living?
Assisted living is designed to provide personalized support while helping residents maintain their independence. Services often include assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management, housekeeping, laundry, chef-prepared meals, transportation, wellness programming, social activities, and 24-hour team member availability. Care plans are tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences.
How much does assisted living cost?
The cost of assisted living varies based on factors such as apartment size, level of care, and the services selected. While every community is different, many families find that assisted living offers excellent value by combining housing, meals, daily support, and amenities into one monthly payment. Our team is happy to discuss pricing, available floor plans, and payment options during a personal consultation.
Does Medicare or insurance pay for assisted living?
Medicare generally does not cover the cost of room and board in an assisted living community. However, some healthcare services may be covered depending on an individual’s medical needs. Long-term care insurance, Veterans benefits, or certain state assistance programs may also help offset costs for eligible individuals. Our team can help answer questions and connect families with helpful resources.
What's the difference between assisted living, memory care, nursing homes, and independent living?
-
Independent Living is ideal for active older adults who want a maintenance-free lifestyle with amenities and social opportunities.
-
Assisted Living provides help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management while promoting independence.
-
Memory Care offers specialized support in a secure environment for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
-
Skilled Nursing (Nursing Homes) provides around-the-clock medical care, rehabilitation, and clinical services for individuals with more complex healthcare needs.
What type of programming is offered in Memory Care?
Memory Care programming is thoughtfully designed to support cognitive function, encourage meaningful engagement, and enhance quality of life. Residents may participate in music therapy, sensory activities, reminiscence programs, art, exercise, gardening, games, social gatherings, and life enrichment experiences tailored to their interests and abilities. Structured daily routines and familiar activities help create comfort, confidence, and connection.
What happens if my loved one's care needs change?
As care needs evolve, our team works closely with residents, families, and healthcare providers to reassess support and update individualized care plans. Many residents are able to receive additional assistance without leaving the community. If a higher level of care is ever needed, we help families understand their options and guide them through the transition with compassion and support.
What activities and social opportunities are available?
An active lifestyle is an important part of overall well-being. Residents can enjoy a variety of daily activities that may include fitness classes, arts and crafts, educational programs, games, live entertainment, group outings, holiday celebrations, gardening, volunteer opportunities, and social gatherings. Our goal is to provide opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, and engaged while pursuing the hobbies and interests they enjoy most.
Are meals provided, and can dietary needs be accommodated?
Yes. Residents enjoy nutritious, chef-prepared meals served in a welcoming dining environment. Many communities can accommodate physician-ordered diets, food allergies, and dietary preferences whenever possible. Mealtimes also provide valuable opportunities for residents to socialize and build meaningful friendships.
How do I recognize caregiver burnout before it's too late?
Caring for a loved one is rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Signs of caregiver burnout may include constant fatigue, increased stress or anxiety, irritability, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, feeling overwhelmed, withdrawing from friends and family, or neglecting your own health. Recognizing these signs early is important. Seeking support through respite care or assisted living can help caregivers recharge while ensuring their loved one receives compassionate, professional care.
Memory Care vs Assisted Living- which does your loved one need?
Both Assisted Living and Memory Care provide supportive, compassionate environments, but they serve different needs.
Assisted Living is best for individuals who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, medication reminders, or mobility while remaining largely independent.
